Meet Maureen Obe, the inspiring and multifaceted Advocacy Officer at YANA USA INC. Cameroon branch who doubles as Project Manager. With a dual role as an advocate against gender-based violence and gender equality, she brings a unique perspective and a wealth of experience to our organization. She has dedicated her career to empowering young girls through training and involvement in governance and social justice.
Maureen holds a Master of Science (MS) degree in Sociology and Anthropology from the University of Buea. As an anthropologist, she is committed to addressing cultural barriers that hinder the development of girls in her country.
In Cameroon, Maureen Obe has successfully empowered over 5,000 youths, particularly young girls, through initiatives focused on the emancipation of women in education and entrepreneurship. Additionally, she has played a significant role in the Peace Lead Initiative, amplifying female voices in peacebuilding efforts. Her hands-on experience, especially with young people, and her passion to serve humanity provides her with invaluable insights into the challenges and opportunities we face in our work.
Before joining YANA, Maureen has served as the chapter leader for LOLA Cameroon and serves as the Project Coordinator for MAFOH, honing her skills in communication, leadership, youth empowerment and problem-solving. This background, coupled with her strategic vision, serves as a key to promote our success in Cameroon.
