Zero Waste Cleanup Campaign 2025

In commemoration of the International Day for Zero Waste 2025, YANA together with her partner, Community Hub for Inclusive Development (CHID) organized a highly successful cleanup campaign on the 2nd of April 2025, aimed at promoting awareness and actions toward sustainable waste management.

The campaign objectives included;

– To educate the communities on the significance of waste reduction and sustainable practices.
– Raise awareness about the devastating impact of improper waste management and disposal on public health and the environment.
– Mobilize local residents to actively participate in environmental conservation efforts and
– Clean up litter and waste from key public areas, improving community health and aesthetics.

During the program, over 25 passionate volunteers joined forces, including students, and community members embarked on a cleanliness drive, targeting the surroundings of four communities in the Buea Municipality, including Kahwa Street Bokwango, Borstal Junction, the Military Barracks, and GRA.

The campaign delivered significant results, demonstrating the power of collective action, with over 4 dumping sites cleaned, gathering more than 2 tons of litter, greatly enhancing the cleanliness of our public spaces.

The Zero Waste Cleanup Campaign was a triumph, achieving its goals and showcasing the strength of community action in tackling environmental challenges.

Moving forward, we invite all residents to take ownership of their actions and adopt environmentally conscious habits, and join us in our mission for a sustainable, zero waste future.

By working together, we can create a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable community for all.
