YANA’s humanitarian scholarship award project is an annual project to offer educational scholarships to underprivileged children living in crisis-hit communities with low-income settings. The project successfully provides financial support, educational resources, and mentorship to underprivileged students, enabling them to pursue their education and improve their future prospects.
Objectives
- Provide scholarships to underprivileged children in crisis-hit communities in Buea, southwest region of Cameroon, and children living in low-income settings in Ngong, north Cameroon.
- Supply necessary educational materials (books, uniforms, supplies) to scholarship recipients.
- Establish a mentorship program to follow up and guide students through their educational journey.
- Raise awareness about the importance of education among families and community members.
Outcomes
- Provided access to education for 27 children who would otherwise have been unable to attend school during the 2024/2025 academic year.
- Improved academic performance and engagement among scholarship recipients.
- Strengthened community support for education, leading to increased awareness and advocacy for children’s rights to education.
- Fostered a sense of hope and aspiration among students and their families.
- Contributes to breaking the cycle of poverty by empowering children with education and skills for future employment opportunities.
